Wellness Workshops

the listen approach workshops

Leading by Intuitive Stillness to Equus Neutral
Our bodies and our horses' bodies are functioning most optimally and are healthiest when they are in a state of balance... neutral. We can also assist them and truly hear what the horse needs when we evaluate and treat them from a state of neutral. By embodying a state of stillness, we can intuitively support the horse's body to heal.

The LISTEN Approach is a combination of modalities including craniosacral, osteopathic techniques, myofascial release, structural integration, and acupressure to help your horse's body find true balance and wellness. It focuses on addressing deep pain and dysfunction for a customized therapeutic approach to wellness where the horse directs the healing.

All teaching is Christ based and utilizes the Holy Spirit for guidance and energy use.

There are 3 pillars that make-up the LISTEN Approach ™:

Pillar 1- Supporting the Nervous System: Equine Craniosacral (Levels 1-3)
Pillar 2- Whole Body Balancing: (Levels 1-2)
Pillar 3- Connecting to Heal: Finding the Stillness Within to Connect Deeper with your horse and yourself

  • Each level is a prerequisite to the next level as you progress through the pillars.
  • Workshops are limited to six students for maximum 1:1 learning and consist of two full days of lecture and hands-on experience.
  • Each student is provided a workbook and invited to a private Facebook group for support along their learning journey.
  • Horses will be provided for use. You do not need to bring your own horse unless coordinated with the host.

"Amy's presentation and style of teaching the individual is incomparable. She holds space for people as well as the horses. I am so grateful to work with Amy and to have formed the equine healing community in our area. She is truly a gift."
 -L. Milbrandt, Wisconsin

Supporting the Nervous System: Equine Craniosacral
Pillar 1 (Levels 1-3)

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • You’re an equine professional who is looking to add new tools to your toolbox to help horses heal on a deeper level.
  • You’re a horse owner who has exhausted every avenue to help your horse. You’ve been to all the lameness specialists, given all the latest supplements, and tried all the latest gadgets. Yet your horse is still not sound and not happy. You feel like you’re basically pulling at strings at this point.
  • You’ve heard me tell the countless stories of horses who weren’t open to receiving the help they needed and how I used my LISTEN Approach to facilitate their healing, and thought, “I wish I could do that!”
  • You’re open to alternative modalities to help your horse (or horses in your care). Yet, as a Christ-follower you’re also hesitant to learn from just anybody.

Here’s the good news. You can learn how to get any horse to be open to receiving help without forcing it on them.

That’s exactly why I use and teach Equine Craniosacral Therapy (ECST) as part of my LISTEN Approach.
If you’re new to ECST, you may not realize it is working with energy. Now that you're here and you've heard or seen what's possible, you're open to it. That's great!
Yet, if you’re a Christ-follower, you don’t want to learn ECST from just anyone.

Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch healing modality that utilizes energy to work WITH the central nervous system in the body to help balance be achieved. There are hundreds of nerves communicating throughout the body to perform certain innate functions. If the flow becomes disrupted, a myriad of issues can arise.

To truly achieve deep healing, a connection must be made in order to obtain permission to facilitate the exact healing a body needs. By allowing God to work through us, we partner with the body to help it achieve deep healing and the balance it inherently wants to achieve.

  • Level 1- During Level 1, you will learn the foundation of the LISTEN Approach. This includes what energy is, how to use it, how to feel the cranial rhythm, and how to rebalance most of the cranial bones.
  • Level 2- The Level 2 workshop builds upon the feel learned in the Level 1 by adding some deeper cranial bones as well as some significant nerves including the vagus and trigeminal.
  • Level 3- In Level 3, everything really comes together. You will learn Tissue Release and Unwinding, Diaphragm Release, and Emotional Releases to fully support the entire nervous system.

Peak Performance & Wellness Solutions is now an Approved Provider for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). The instructor qualifications and course content meet the NCBTMB standards and allow for Continuing Education (CE) credits. Level 1: Supporting the Nervous System Equine Craniosacral is currently an approved course.
Whole Body Balancing
Pillar 2 (Levels 1-2)
Picture

Utilizing the touch and feel acquired from Pillar 1, students will learn to rebalance the axial skeleton and restore range of motion to the horse's body by applying osteopathic principals, myofascial release, and structural integration techniques.

  • Level 1- Level 1 focuses on Rebalancing the Axial Skeleton and Restoring Range of Motion.
  • Level 2 - During Level 2, you will learn Visceral Rebalancing and Techniques to integrate healthy changes within the whole body.

"Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”

- hebrews 11:1

Finding the Missing Tool: Dr. Sim's Story
“As a veterinarian certified in chiropractic, I have come across several cases that weren't "equipped" to receive chiropractic treatment. Patients that really needed something to bring them from sympathetic to parasympathetic. I felt that I was missing a "tool" in my toolbelt. I work closely with one of Amy's students who is proficient in Pillar 1. While working with her she was able to bring these horses to a state that allowed treatment and healing.
Being a veterinarian, I have a very linear, literature-based thought process, but when I saw the change and progress that was taking place in these horses, I knew there was something undeniable there.
As a follower of Jesus, the fact that Amy's workshop is Christ-based is what tipped the scale for me to take it. Sometimes in healing and animal relationships there are things that occur that have no other way of describing other than divine.
Amy's talent is no doubt God-given. Not only is she sharing a healing modality for the beautiful animals God has given us to tend to, but she is unwaveringly, but earnestly sharing the Gospel. I can't say enough wonderful things about the course and the skill set you will receive.
You can't see it, but you have to believe it. For me, this modality parallels the most important part of my life that I also can't see, but have faith and believe in.”
~ Dr. Dani Sims, DVM,  Montana

From Skeptical to Trusting: Briana's Story
“I was a bit skeptical in the beginning because craniosacral therapy was difficult for me to wrap my brain around. I was intrigued when Amy shared her background prior to becoming a craniosacral practitioner and found her very relatable and trustworthy early in the workshop because of that background and growth story.
I must admit, though, in many ways Amy’s teaching style was challenging for me initially because she is very insistent that you learn to trust yourself. My black and white personality wanted to know if I was doing it right or wrong, and it took me some time to appreciate Amy’s steadfastness in supporting us while we developed our feel.
I can truthfully say I am very glad she approaches teaching and guiding students the way she does; it led me to access a part of myself I wasn’t used to accessing. Amy provides a solid foundation of understanding behind what you will be doing, which sets students up for long-term success.”

If you’d say “That’s me!” to any of the following statements, the LISTEN Approach Workshops were created for you:
  • I’m an equine practitioner (bodyworker, chiropractor, acupuncturist, etc.) who has had horses in my care I know would benefit from the modalities I offer — if only they would let me do it. It’s time I learn what Amy does so I can help even more horses.
  • Horse owners who are tired from endless appointments and specialists with no answer to their horses issues. From soundness to behavior issues, you know in your gut that what’s presenting on the outside is just a sign of what’s happening on the inside. You feel like you’ve tried everything at this point, and you’re open to whatever is going to help your horse.
  • You’ve been drawn to alternative methods of working with horses lately, but you’ve been resistant to energy-based healing because of your personal convictions and beliefs. It seems to work but how does that fit with your faith? You’re hopeful Amy has some answers to help you wade through your questions.

The common thread? You have an open-minded approach to horses, you’re willing to think outside the box, and you view the horse as an individual you want to have a relationship with.

"I have struggled with energy work over my lifetime, debating if it was Christian or not. The Christ centered nature of this course affirmed that we are doing His work with us as a conduit."
-J.Wiggins, Texas

As a practitioner, horse owner, and competitor, I look at horses from a holistic perspective. I believe in finding a balance and trusting the Lord to lead and guide us on how to support our horses. While many different modalities can work together to bring out healing, sometimes there is dysfunction or deregulation that keeps a horse from being ready to accept the help they actually need.

That’s why the LISTEN Approach exists. We’re looking at the whole horse, not just what we see on the outside.

Second, and closely related, I believe in trusting God's blueprint for how He created the horse. That informs how I approach bodywork, nutrition, hoof care, saddle fit, and riding. It's how we can help our horses to heal from the inside out.

It is that foundation of trusting God’s blueprint that makes what you will learn about ECST through my LISTEN Approach different than any other program you will find.

"Amy’s course was incredibly well put together and professional. She was a very open teacher, but also stayed on topic when questions threatened to send the topics elsewhere. I enjoyed my time so much that I will be continuing to fly in from out of state to receive a certification from her program. "
